Tom Mullen: Hello everybody. And welcome back to Tom Mullen talks freedom today. My guest is Dr. Jonathan Newman. Who is a fellow at the Mises Institute where he's also taught graduate level courses. Previously, he was Associate Professor of Economics and Finance at Bryan College. Jonathan earned his PhD at Auburn University while a research fellow at the Mises Institute and was the recipient of the 2021 Gary G.
Schlarbaum Award to a promising young scholar for excellence in research and teaching. He's published in the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics and in volumes edited by Matthew McCaffrey and Per Beiland and his commentary also appears regularly in the Mises Wire and Power and Market. Jonathan's also the author of two children's [00:01:00] books, which we'll link to on the show notes page, The Broken Window and Ludwig the Builder.
Today, he joins us to talk about the possibility of a recession and other matters and what to expect. Trump's policies may or may not have to do with it. Jonathan, welcome to the show. Hey, thanks for having me. I guess, to begin, maybe you could just give a, an overall assessment of where you think.
The U S economy is, are we a bubble just waiting for a pin? Is everything pretty much okay right now? And it's just maybe some rumblings in the stock markets that have people worried, or where are we in your opinion?
